Does your computer have to be formatted again? Are you worried about the data you have in your computer drives? You need not worry. A DVD can help you in backing up your data.

A DVD – is used as a storage medium. It is used for storing your documents, photographs and other content data. A CD and DVD look the same in size. A DVD however can store data six times more than a CD. A DVD video is a properly formatted and structured video content.

There are different types of DVDs that are available. The types vary depending on the way they store data. A DVD-ROM which refers to ‘read only memory’ is only able to read data. A DVD-R or DVD-R+ can be used to record data.

A DVD-RW and DVD+RW record and store data. The term ‘RW’ refers to “re- writable”. Such a DVD can be used to record and save data multiple times. A DVD-RW and DVD+RW can thus be duplicated several times.

Competing with a DVD and way ahead in the race is a Blue Ray disc. Such a disc has a high definition video format. The storage capacity is humungous and six times more than a DVD. For single layered and double layered disc, the storage capacity is 25GB and 50GB.
